Pack and Prep

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Seems like one of those in between days coming and going at the same time. I set up the “gone fishin'” message on my email at work. I try to get some closure on my work activities and send status out on where I left off, in case anybody cares.

I email Carol, my dog sitter, about dropping off the dogs on Thursday morning and I text Max about picking them up on Sunday because I’ll be coming in rather late. I pack up dog food and treats. I find my checkbook and cut a check for future services rendered.

I’m eating all the left overs to clean out the refrigerator before everything goes bad. I made four chicken breasts not used at the BBQ last night. The dogs and I have finished them off. Normally, I wouldn’t give that kind of quality food to the dogs but it won’t be any good by the time I get back. I’ll have a lot of shopping to do early next week.

As I pack my clothes, I make up the beds in all the rooms. My next round of visitors will be here next week. Pack up clothes, toothbrush, soaps, and such. Check on the Boston weather, looks good but could be rain on Sunday flying back.

Make sure all the garbage is out, dishes are clean, and food put away. Nothing worse than coming back to discover your kitchen has been turned into an ant hill.

Make sure I have all my electronics: camera, tablet, charger. Want to stay connected. I’ll be in civilization on this trip, not my usual remote outback disconnected trip.

Now, nothing left to do but wait until the adventure begins. Well, maybe play a little guitar and read a book. I’ll need that book for the long flight out.
